ASC Annual Meeting 2025

The 2025 annual meeting of the Association for Social Science Research on China (ASC) under the German Association for Asian Studies (DGA) was hosted by MERICS in Berlin. The meeting discussed eight academic papers on Chinese political economy, international relations, governance, and contentious politics. A discussion panel, “China Studies & Policy Impact,” organized by MERICS, debated the (underdeveloped) linkages between scholarly research and policy-making in Germany. The ASC members’ assembly, chaired by outgoing speaker Prof. H. Christoph Steinhardt (University of Vienna), elected Dr. Christina Maags (University of Sheffield) as the new speaker of the group.
