MERICS will host an online briefing on “China’s Economic Security Offensive: How the PRC pursues dominance in industry, trade and technology” on Friday, October 9 from 9:00 to 10:00 CEST.

Based on the latest report written by MERICS experts Katja Drinhausen, Rebecca Arcesati and Jacob Gunter, this session will present how Beijing is attempting to future-proof its economy through a combination of policies designed to secure the CCP's vision of self-reliant modernization, an expanded economic security toolbox, and leveraging foreign dependencies.

In the face of this intensifying economic security offensive, the authors will give their perspectives on how Europe can muster the political will to protect its market integrity and negotiate a stable corridor of cooperation with Beijing.
