The European China Conference 2025 will take place on Wednesday, November 26 in Berlin.

Since 2021, the annual European China Conference has established itself as a key platform for European decision makers and China experts to engage on a broad spectrum of critical topics. The 5th edition of the event is hosted jointly by the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) and the Czech Association of International Affairs (AMO), and kindly supported by Stiftung Mercator.

The European China Conference traditionally brings together leaders from policy, industry and academia. Speakers in the past have included EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, ministers and state secretaries from various European countries as well as high-level representatives from the corporate and think-tank sector.

In 2025, the theme of the European China Conference is “European China Choices – Navigating relations amid geopolitical turbulences”. Shifts in the global order are no longer a forecast but a daily reality for European governments and businesses. As Europe struggles to safeguard peace, freedom, prosperity and competitiveness, finding a joint approach vis-à-vis China is a key challenge. This conference provides a crucial, high-level platform to address this imperative.
