MERICS Brussels Breakfast: Discussion with Jörg Wuttke on China’s political and economic trajectory and its impact on the EU

The Brussels Office of MERICS will hold a closed-door breakfast discussion with Jörg Wuttke on current EU-China and US-China relations on Thursday, February 12 from 8:30 to 9:30 am.

Veteran China hand Jörg Wuttke will share his analysis of China's current economic and political trajectory and its implications for Europe-China and US-China relations. He will also discuss China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan, the Xi-Trump summit in April and the dynamics of EU-China relations.

The speakers will be:

  • Grzegorz Stec, Head of Brussels Office, MERICS

Jörg Wuttke has over 35 years of experience living and working in China. As three-times President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) between 2007 and 2023, he played a key role in shaping the European debate and understanding of China. Until 2024, Wuttke was Vice President of BASF China for a total of 27 years. He is now a Partner with the DGA Group/ Albright Stonebridge Group, based in Washington, D.C. Wuttke is also a member of the Robert Bosch Supervisory Board as well as the Advisory Board of MERICS.

The MERICS Brussels Breakfasts bring together selected European officials, policymakers and experts, as well as representatives of foreign missions and organizations.
