Simon is an Executive Assistant at MERICS. Before joining the institute, Simon worked as a trainee in the office of MEP Reinhard Bütikofer and as a Schuman trainee in the Asia Division of the European Parliament’s Directorate-General for External Policies. His expertise lies particularly in German and European China policy, as well as in German-Chinese relations.

Simon holds a double master’s degree in Asian and European Affairs from Renmin University of China and King’s College London, as well as a BA in Asian Studies from the University of Bonn. He also studied at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Ocean University of China.
