Aurelio Insisa’s research focuses on China’s foreign policy and economic statecraft, with particular attention to its global economic engagement and strategic communication as well as hybrid threats and cross-Strait relations.
Before joining MERICS, Aurelio worked at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in Rome as a Senior Research Fellow for Asia and was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. He holds a PhD in Chinese History from the University of Hong Kong, where he also lectured for six years, as well as a BA and an MA in Oriental Languages and Civilizations (Chinese) from Sapienza University of Rome.
