Professor Andrew Scobell is a Senior Associate Fellow at MERICS. He is also adjunct professor in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and non-resident distinguished fellow in the Asia Program at the Institute for Security and Development Policy in Sweden. Previous positions include distinguished fellow at the United States Institute of Peace (2021-2025) and senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation (2010-2021). He has published extensively on Chinese security and foreign policy. Scobell earned a doctorate in political science from Columbia University. He was born and raised in Hong Kong.
