Sophia Pradels’ research focuses on China’s macroeconomic development, industrial policy and foreign trade. Prior to joining MERICS, Sophia was a Project Consultant at APCO Worldwide in Shanghai.

Sophia holds a dual master’s degree in international politics and China studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS and Nanjing University through the Hopkins-Nanjing Center and a BA in Chinese from the University of Edinburgh. She also studied Chinese language at Peking University.
