Trends in foreign investment legislation

In "Trends in foreign investment legislation: Unsteady balance between control and liberalisation" the author, Joachim Glatter, MERICS-Senior Policy Fellow for Chinese Law, argues that even though some progress and liberalisation can be detected in new regulations on some specific operational aspects of FIEs in China, other recent laws like the National Security Law and the draft Foreign Investment Law suggest that keeping and even strengthening control over foreign investment continues to be one of the Chinese government's key concerns.
