MERICS Media Briefing: Xi Jinping visits the USA

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to travel to the US and meet President Donald Trump at the White House on September 24. Artificial Intelligence is expected to feature high on the agenda as are the two countries' trade relations. Crucially, the meeting takes place just before the October deadline for the EU-China trade negotiations. Whatever comes out of Xi’s trip to Washington will have significant ramifications for Brussels’ China policy.
